Artificial Intelligence continues to dominate conversations across the business world, and finance teams are no exception. During our recent webinar, AI & Sage Intacct: What’s Available Today and What’s Coming Next, we discussed how finance organizations can think about AI adoption, Sage’s approach to responsible AI, and some of the capabilities beginning to emerge within the Sage Intacct ecosystem.
While AI presents significant opportunities, our discussion focused on a simple idea: finance teams should embrace AI, but they should do so in a way that preserves trust, security, and accountability.
Finance Has a Different Standard
Many business functions can tolerate a degree of experimentation and approximation. Finance teams, however, are responsible for moving cash, reporting financial results, and supporting important business decisions.
As organizations evaluate AI tools, considerations such as data quality, security, internal controls, explainability, and accountability become especially important.
The question is not whether finance should adopt AI. The question is how to adopt AI responsibly.
What We’re Hearing From Customers
Most organizations are no longer asking whether AI matters.
Instead, the conversations have shifted to:
- Where should we start?
- What use cases are practical today?
- How do we maintain controls and governance?
- How do we measure value and ROI?
Finance leaders are increasingly looking for practical applications that improve productivity without introducing unnecessary risk.
Sage’s Approach to AI
One of the most interesting aspects of Sage’s strategy is its focus on bringing AI directly into existing finance workflows while maintaining transparency and control.
Rather than requiring organizations to move sensitive financial information into disconnected tools, Sage is building AI capabilities within the platform and creating governed ways to connect with the broader AI ecosystem.
This approach aligns closely with the needs of finance teams, where trust and explainability are critical.
Capabilities Available Today
During the webinar, we reviewed several examples of AI-driven functionality available today or emerging within the Sage Intacct ecosystem, including:
- AP Automation
- Anomaly Detection
- Close Automation
- Finance Intelligence Agent
- AI Gateway
While these capabilities address different areas of the finance function, they share a common goal: reducing manual effort, surfacing insights more quickly, and helping finance professionals spend more time analyzing information and less time gathering it.
